Pic of the Week

25 September 2006

A hotel building under construction towers over a row of bungalow roofs in the middle distance and a pile of rubble from a demolished house in the foreground

Past, present and future

Kay adds:

"Construction and demolition seem to be an everyday feature of life in Thailand. The land for the hotel building in the background was cleared of other buildings eighteen months ago, but construction didn't really get underway until about six months ago.

"I liked the way this picture fell into a neat array of past, present and future layers: the rubble from the old building in the foreground, the row of brightly-coloured rooftops in the middle distance, and the brand new building soaring ever on upwards."
