After driving through picturesque little villages you will arrive at the incomparable setting of the mountain of Montserrat, which rises majestically to 4,051 feet (1,235 meters).
Next visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat, which holds the famous 12th century Romanesque carving of Virgen Moreneta, the Black Virgin. The Royal Basilica has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Spain for hundreds of years. On some days the children's choir sings in the monastery at midday, and so you may be fortunate enough to catch one of their delightful performances.
On your way back to Barcelona you will make a stop at the harbor, where you may choose to visit the Barcelona Aquarium on (entrance fee not included). There is also a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and cinemas in the area, so you may choose to conclude the tour and stay to explore, otherwise the coach will take you back to the original departure point.
On the day, you can choose to travel to Montserrat by coach or by cog-wheel train. On the cog-wheel train you can take in a breathtaking view over the mountain range of Montserrat, which is both a unique natural environment in its own right and an emblematic site for the country of Catalonia. The cost of the cog-wheel train is approximately EUR5.00 and is subject to availability.
