"Even my brother (who hates tuna) loved these. Great as an appetiser, or skip the peppers and the fish cakes make a great children's meal, particularly because you get to eat them with your fingers." Ian Williamson with a great twist on fishcakes!

"Happy to be on an island in the sun..."
"John Mole's book is very much in the Mayle mould; largely, no doubt, because he starts off with a similarly ramshackle property in a similar traditional rural community. If anything, though, Mole's predicament is even further removed from the urban UK – even the UK of the late 1970s, when he and his family were contemplating their move to the Greek island of Evia." Dave reviews John Mole's account of his new life in rural Greece.

"I demand a recount!"
"The electorate were given a very large voting paper to decide on Senators, Deputies, Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors. Photos of the worthy aspirants were included because not everyone in the DR can read. Even then not all could see: one elderly lady who could not see the photos clearly duly marked one of them. Then she held her voting paper up close to her eyes and remonstrated with her daughter, 'Hey! You didn't tell me I voted for Baldy.' " Ginnie Bedggood looks at the often chaotic count in the recent Dominican Republic elections.
