What Was New: March 2004

Moving to Canada means leaving behind family, friends, familiar
food, routines and your place in the community. It's even more daunting
if you're on your own. Read Thelma O'Connor's survival guide:
Alone in Canada
I've finally completed the mammoth task of archiving onto this site all the 2001 opt-in email newsletters. (The email list used to be powered by Yahoo! until we brought it in-house.) Now all I have to do is archive the year 2000 ones and catch up on this year's. :-) Click on the "Newsletter" link near the top of the navigation bar on the right if you want to sign up, or for a link to the archives.

Our friendly discussion forum had outgrown its original format, not least because we had so many queries on the country boards. Helped by our willing Moderators, we removed many of the older posts if they were of no further use.
In addition, we created a new forum just for the country boards so that posts could be categorised more easily. We hope this will help you to find the info you need as well as save the repetition of asking and answering the same questions time and again.

"At least one million people on PAYE overpay tax annually,

And one giant leap for mankind'
Those were the scripted words for Neil Armstrong,
On July 20th, 1969"

Response to The Moon Song
"For all the folks who read Dave Hook's poem
And think that it's right on the money
I've got a few words, if you know where I'm going
And I can't help thinking 'how funny'."
It looks as if The Moon Song has inspired some more poetry. Read GerryL's
funny riposte:

Emigration Exhibition
"...The seminar that we were booked into - 'Surviving the Emigration
experience' - was somewhat interesting, as apparently it was given by two
people who didn't survive it, and have now returned to the UK. Also they
did not go to Canada as we had been told, but to Australia, so not a lot
of help there!" Richard gives us a review of the event:
