French driving license easy to get?

Hello all,
My family and I are thinking on moving to France in the next 2 years or so. My partner has just started learning French and doesn't have a driving license. Could anyone advise him on whether getting his license in UK before we move or it'd be alright to get it sorted in France. Is it cheaper, easier, ... over there?

I think it is more expensive and complex in France. You need 20 hours of professional instruction before taking the theory test, and youneed to have driven 3,000Km accompanied before taking the practical. Although you are allowed a professional translator for the theory test, that will add another chunk to the cost. With 2 years in hand, it seems a much better idea to take the test in the UK.
