Employability with English as only language

Hi folks,

First time here so please be gentle.

I'm a Network Engineer and have been mulling the idea over in my head of moving to India to work, maybe for a few years, maybe longer.

The question is: Whilst English is one of the official languages, would it be possible to obtain employment in IT with only English or is this simply wishful thinking?

Hi, and welcome.

Sorry, but I can't hold out much hope for you. It may well be possible to get a job in IT with only English - but before that you'll need to get over a whole series of hurdles involving visas and work permits. And given that there are plenty of Indian citizens qualified in all branches of IT, the likelihood of getting a work permit is small, unless you have some niche expertise that's in short supply in India.

Another first timer here so please go easy!

Cutting a very long story short I've been to India
a few times now, some on holiday but in 2011
I spent about 7 months travelling all over.
Basically I am in love with the place, obsessed,
and since I've been home I can't settle. At all.
So I'm starting to think about trying to live there
and work. Just wondering if anyone has any tips
or info regarding how easy/hard it is to work there,
what sort of money I could potentially earn (this
is not a huge factor)
and what the deal is with visa's? I would want as long
a visa as possible.

I am a British citizen, passport holder, work in TV
as a trade but would consider any work.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
