Need DreamWeaver help

I need to upload stuff to an existing site, and the only source of the FTP login info I have is a DreamWeaver .ste file. I tried setting up both WinFTP and FireFTP using the username and password that appear in this file: the site recognises the username but says password is incorrect.

However, if I run DreamWeaver and import using that .ste file, it works. Looks as if I'll have to use DreamWeaver, but I can't wokr out how.

If I import the site, I only get a remote site file panel. How do I create a local site and connect it to the remote defined in the .ste?

Can't help with Dreamweaver Ruggie, however, lots of links here about Dreamweaver ftp problems, if it helps.

I'm not sure (I haven't used DW for a long time), but I think it may be possible using the "Manage Sites" dialogue.

If your site shows there (even if the dialogue only shows the remote site details for that site) then you should be able to create a folder using Windows Explorer (assuming your OS is Windows) and then choose that new folder as your web root folder in the local options for that site. You ought then to be able to download the files into that local folder.
