Remember National Garages? Remember those cute little blue PVC gnomes you used to get from them? According to Karen Johnson, they're coming back:
Super Smurfs!

Living in Europe? Missing all the UK telly, but not sure how to set up a satellite? Don't worry, help is at hand - find out how to get all those channels here:
Satellite TV in Europe

Wacky, comical, eccentric even, but daft is one thing Su Pollard certainly isn't. Rachael Hannan interviews Su Pollard, aka the dithery Peggy from the 1980s sitcom Hi De Hi.

On The Buses

The website and fan club remembering the classic comedy ON THE BUSES is a little bit of British TV comedy nostalgia. Take a trip down memory. Ding, ding!

Bill Tarmey, aka Jack Duckworth has just set up his own website. Have a look! www.billtarmey.com

Here's one we made earlier

Former Blue Peter presenters John Noakes, Peter Purves and Valerie Singleton are planning a return to TV by re-making the show for grown-ups.

The presenters, who made the programme's best known line up in the 1960s and 1970s, have devised a format to cater for the over-35s.

John Noakes said they wanted to recreate the combination of education and entertainment that won millions of young viewers. He said: "We helped give a lot of bored children ideas on what to do. Now, more than 20 years after I left the show, I see a lot of middle-aged people retiring early who never did anything but work and really don't know how to fill the time."

Purves said the millions who grew up with the show wanted to see "what happened next".

Interested in Castaway? Try these links: Real Guide has a good feature including uncensored web cams. Or you can find out about the follow-up project - The Heat Is On, which took seven volunteers off to the Peruvian jungle - on the Beeb's excellent website.

Carlton recently showed a remake of The Railway Children which was excellent. It's worth watching if you get the chance. Jenny Agutter, who originally played Bobbie 30 years ago, stars as the mother. Sir Richard Attenborough plays the kind old man on the train - a rare chance these days to see him in front of the camera. Why not visit their website to learn more about the remake?

www.csvu.net - Coronation Street Visual Updates is a great site. It's almost better than the real thing. On second thoughts, given the boring plots recently, this is better than the real thing! They also organise "pings" for Corrie fans - apparently this started out from a typo that invited people to get together for a "ping" and the name stuck. Don't miss this site!

Alternatively, try www.corrie.net, another fan site. Those with slow connections might appreciate signing up for their updates by email. All great stuff!

There are loads of British nostalgia sites out there but, in my opinion, many are a bit dull so I'm only listing the ones I enjoyed. And a Fawlty Towers one - I never liked Basil et al but this site is brilliant if you do. For everything about Fawlty Towers, even the hotel floor plan! click here

If you grew up watching the children's TV in Britain, www.sausagenet.co.uk is an interesting site. I liked the Wacky Races.

Andrew Wiseman's Television Room has a few oddities including a saga of a legal battle he fought with "Websnatcher" (a guy who went around stealing other people's websites) and much, much, more. Websnatcher is a loooooong read but even if you just dip into it, you'll no doubt get a few laughs.

If you're a Father Ted fan, this unofficial tribute page is well worth a visit.

An excellent site for nostalgia is www.nostalgiacentral.com. A trip through the 60s, 70s and 80s via TV, music, movies, and popular culture. They have some offbeat stuff as well like: Bucks Fizz - Why?

Channels

The good old Beeb is at... www.bbc.co.uk. This site has everything: news online; sport; and entertainment. They're also looking for new talent but mainly in the 18-25 age group, and some categories are for UK residents only. However, if you want to write a sit-com, as far as I could see, it's open to all. Some of the best new British comedy is featured here: Reeves and Mortimer, Goodness Gracious Me. They also have EastEnders if you're interested.

The ITV site at www.itv.co.uk has a few interesting things.

To be fair, I've included www.channel4.com although I didn't find much of interest there.

Please write in if you want your favourite site listed here!
